Have you ever had so much planned out to do in one day yet somehow very little or nothing at all ends up getting done? I’ve been there quite a few times and it can be real frustrating allowing so much time go to waste.

Relax though, it doesn’t mean you’re lazy, it simply means your day could be structured out a little better! I’ve listed 6 ways to make your day more productive that have worked wonders for me!

Use The First Few Hours of Your Morning For Yourself

The first few hours after you wake up truly set the tone for the rest of your day. When we spend our day focusing on a million different things, it is important to make ourselves one of them.

Start the day with yourself, not your phone and avoid the screen for at least the first 30 minutes after waking up. So, keep those blinds open and the sun shining in, focus on doing things that help you to really wake up and prepare for the day ahead.

Below are a few morning activities that can really get your mind and body into motion.

· Exercising

· Journaling

· Drinking a cup of coffee, tea or lemon water

· Meditating

· Setting goals for the day

Planning Out Your Day

Set your intentions for the day by preparing a to-do list in the morning of a busy day. This allows you to stay focused and not forget about any of your responsibilities.

By doing this, you are then able to check off and see everything you have completed for the day, this helps to stay focused and motivated. It may also benefit you to add times to these tasks so that you may ensure you will have enough time in the day to get everything completed and stay on track.

When creating this to-do list, it is more productive to start the day by completing the most difficult tasks first while your body has the utmost energy.

Telling yourself that “I’ll do it towards the end of the day,” ends well for some people, but not most. Get that difficult task out of the way while you still can, you will thank your self later when you’re tired!

Quit Multitasking

Sometimes we just want to cut the amount of time our tasks throughout the day take to do so that we have more free time. While multi-tasking may allow us to get more done in a short period of time, this is not always the case and most of the time we are only heavily reducing the quality of our work.

Focus on one thing at a time and get it done right so you won’t have to backtrack your tasks.

Take More Breaks

It is common to think that we can just power thru our day and get everything done in just one go so that we may free up some time and get more accomplished.

We are only letting ourselves get slower and slower at each task as our body and mind struggles to keep up. Take the proper time to eat a good lunch and relax with multiple micro breaks throughout the day as well.

On these micro breaks, you could take a walk, stretch your legs, or just spend a minute just getting some fresh air. This all allows your body to be far more productive the entire day.

Create Your Ideal Workspace

If possible, find the perfect place where you can complete your tasks, stay focused and be comfortable. Keep this work area away from any distractions that negatively impact your productivity.

It can be difficult to allow ourselves to get into focus again after being distracted by something or someone, this a common reason people struggle to have a productive day.

If you are someone that finds themselves getting distracted far too easily, ensure that you are removing all distractions from your working area and let the people in your life know you absolutely cannot be bothered while completing your tasks.

Reward Yourself Often

Keep yourself motivated and reward yourself often for the tasks that you complete throughout the day. This reward could just be another break or maybe even a snack. Just prepare things that will get you excited to accomplish everything.

In Closing

Remember, you are not lazy. Your daily habits and routines may just need some sprucing up! If you struggle to keep yourself productive throughout a busy day, try out some of these tips and see which one works best for you!
